Overview

Philosophy and approach

We believe that there is no such thing as wastewater; all water originates in nature, and will be returned to the natural environment after we have used it. The issue is:
How well do we manage the recycling process?
How well do we clean up our waste before the water re-enters the environment?

Wetland Services Ltd specialises in the design and construction of natural systems, which mimic nature to the greatest possible extent, and fit neatly into our environment. As far as possible, our designs are passive, using no external energy sources, and harness efficient natural processes to remove pathogens and pollutants.

Design Process

On-site disposal system designers have to consider a complex set of factors to achieve sustainable long life systems with minimal dependency on mechanical devices. We treat your desire to live in harmony with your environment as being paramount in guiding you through the selection process.

The essential steps in the design and approval process are:

  1. Site Evaluation
An accredited representative will visit your site to assess your situation and your needs, preferably when you are present. All relevant information, including topography, soil profiles and characteristics, you building intentions and lifestyle preferences are gathered. You can expect to be guided through a preliminary decision process about your basic options.
  2. Design
Wetland Services' designer will prepare the design, combining what is feasible with your preferences. Full documentation for consent submissions is prepared and sent to you. If the design satisfies your needs it is submitted to the local authorities together with your other building plans documentation for approval. Any queries about the design are handled directly by the designer.
  3. Quotation
When you approve the design we prepare a quotation for the supply of the Kits you need to install. The decision on installation is yours.
  4. Supervision We inspect the installation twice, with the final inspection checking the functioning of the system as well as compliance with the design. We are available to provide technical support where necessary but we find the need is rare.
  5. Producer Statement
The final inspection report is submitted to Wetland Services who will provide a Producer Statement and Owners Manual if it is satisfactory. If not remedial action will be specified. The Producer Statement assures you that the system is designed for a 15-year life, if operated in accordance with the Owners Manual.

When you request a site evaluation we will write to you seeking written authorisation and agreement to pay a design fee, normally $650 +GST on receipt of the design documentation. If you are in a remote area, higher charges may be incurred.

If a Wetland Services design has been submitted for consent purpose only Wetland Services can supply the Producer Statement, which certifies that the installation meets the specified standards.
